Flowerofthedead

I happened to be at a convention in my hotel room on the Day of the Dead and was relaxing for the first time all day with *JessicaMDouglas after a long day of convention rush. We were discussing how beautiful the woman with the traditional Day of the Dead makeup can be.  I ended up drawing and coloring this piece as a result of our conversation.

I wanted to do a reverse of the usual makeup (black lines on a white base) and instead do black base with white lines, but as I followed my artistic flow I ended up with this instead and I love the effect! From face on the lines are subtle and you can see her face but turn it to the side and suddenly you see the glittering skull face.

I plan to embellish prints of this by hand so they will all have the glitter skull face effect. Lots of extra work but sooo worth it

By the way... I really had fun painting all that red hair lol
